More Great News!
The Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency formally announced today that the Broad Cove Community Association (BCCA) is one of 18 South Shore projects to receive funding through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund. The fund is aimed at fueling community and tourism revitalization and creating the conditions for local economies to thrive as they rebound from the effects of COVID-19.
BCCA received $125,756 which allowing the Broad Cove Community Hall to make major strides towards its goal of being “welcoming and accessible to all ages and abilities.” As well as including an accessible washroom (with direct access from/to the outdoors), the renovations will integrate more use of outdoor space with hall events and improve the appeal and function of the hall by taking advantage of its seaside location.
ACOA is an important partner in funding the revitalization and accessibility project at the Broad Cove Hall, along with contributions from the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg and many individual donors.

MODL Supports Broad Cove Hall in Quest for Accessibility
Press Release November 17, 2021
For Immediate Release
The Broad Cove Community Hall is one step closer to its vision of being “welcoming and accessible to all ages and abilities,” thanks to a recent $10,000 contribution from the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg (MODL) through its Major Recreation Capital Grants Program.
Mary Frier, Chairperson of the Broad Cove Community Association, says “while our vintage hall has always been an important hub for residents of our village and those nearby, it’s not fully accessible for people with physical challenges. We’re working hard to change that and appreciate the support from MODL in moving our plan forward.”
The MODL funding will be put towards a larger project designed by Logan Amos, Architect. Along with new accessible washrooms (with direct access from/to the outdoors), the renovations will also better integrate use of outdoor space with hall events and improve the appeal and function of the hall by taking advantage of its seaside location. Plans are to complete the project in two phases, with the first phase costing approximately $179,000.
“I’m very impressed with the association’s forward-looking plan,” says Mayor Carolyn Bolivar Getson, Municipality of the District of Lunenburg. “We have committed to fostering a culture of accessibility and encouraging the prevention and removal of barriers to participation, and this project is an important step in this commitment.”
