The Broad Cove Community Association is a volunteer-led registered charity. This page explains what personal information this website collects, why, and what we do with it. It is short because we collect very little.
What we collect, and why
If you send us a message through the contact form, we collect your name, your email address and whatever you write. We use it to reply to you.
If you sign up for the newsletter, we collect your email address. We use it to send you the newsletter. You have to confirm your address by clicking a link in an email before we send you anything, and every issue carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately.
If you book the hall, that happens in our booking system at booking.broadcovehall.ca, which collects more — your name, phone number, event details and payment information. That system has its own terms, and they explain how it handles your information.
When you visit any page, we count the visit. We use WP Statistics, which runs on our own server. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or any third-party analytics service, and this website sets no cookies when you arrive.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with anyone outside the Association, except where a service we use needs it to do its job — our email provider has to know your address in order to deliver an email to you.
We do not use your information to advertise to you, and we do not build a profile of you.
How long we keep it
Contact form messages are kept while we are dealing with them and for a reasonable period afterwards. Newsletter subscriptions are kept until you unsubscribe. Booking records are kept as long as the Association needs them for its accounts.
Seeing what we hold, and asking us to delete it
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email info@broadcovehall.ca and a volunteer will get back to you.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Keeping it safe
Our website and booking system are hosted by established providers and access is limited to Association volunteers who need it. We are a small volunteer organisation and we do not pretend to bank-grade security, but we take reasonable care and we do not collect anything we do not need.
