175th Anniversary of Broad Cove Hall
In 2025, Broad Cove Hall celebrated its 175th birthday. Villagers kicked into high gear to celebrate the rich history of Broad Cove Hall from 1850 to 2025.
The celebrations were highlighted by two special events:
Old time community potluck supper
This was a chance for villagers and friends to share good food, much based on favourite vintage recipes, conversation and fellowship.
Tapestry of Time
This wonderful event kicked off with a full house listening attentively to Barry and Wayne Smith (interviewed by writer and part-time resident John Demont) tell stories from their more than seven decades of living in the village.
Broad Cove Village and Hall timeline
Afterwards, round table discussions gave everyone in attendance a chance to share their own memories and questions about years gone by in Broad Cove. People left with a feeling of shared joy and gratitude of having the privilege to live in the wonderful Community of Broad Cove.
This successful event was the culmination of research and planning by organizers Mary Frier, Phyllis Price and Stephanie Yee, with the assistance of recordings and recollections of many Broad Covers, past and present. Special thanks to local historians Blake Conrad and Carroll L’Esperance for answering questions and supporting the research. Visual timeline
Special Recognition
Both events were made all the more rich by the hall being decked out with paintings, photos, posters, textiles and artifacts showing glimpses from Broad Cove’s past and on loan from residents of the village.
